A thought for the moment

Do not live a life of regret but live a life of hope for a better tomorrow.
What’s important is what you do today. If something isn’t working for you and there is something you can do about it, then start making little changes. Take small steps and before you know it you’ll be making giant leaps.
Live in the now.

Enjoy this poem about the city.
By Langston Hughes

In the morning the city
Spreads it’s wings
Making a song
Of stone that sings

In the evening the city
Goes to bed
Hanging lights
About its head.

What makes you laugh?

What makes me laugh?

For me it’s a good comedy show. At the moment I enjoy watching, The Big Bang Theory. All the characters makes me laugh, although some more than others but they all seem to be a good ensemble and works well with each other, even when they have guest stars.

Review: The Pearl

The Pearl
The Pearl by John Steinbeck
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I finally finished reading The Pearl, by John Steinbeck. It is quite an interesting story. From what I gathered it is a retelling of a Mexican folk tale. Kino is a poor pearl diver, who set out to find a pearl and the discovery of the great pearl of the world, affected the lives of all those who laid eyes on it. Continue reading

The Light

A rising star shines brightly in the sky
It brings forth light and life and warmth and energy.
A beaming smile that lights up the world.
Radiant beams springs forth and dispels the darkness.
It remains constant, motionless.
Friend or foe without you I am cold and nonexistent.
You are worshipped by many.
An orb, a burning mass of fire relentless and unyielding.
A ray of light, dazzling and bright.
Golden hues of orange and yellow spanning the universe.
STAR, luminous and celestial
Universal, cosmic, far and wide
Neon, bright and vivid
You are the light of the world.

Day 7

Today was our last day in New York but it was a very special day because it was my birthday. I spent the morning watching TV while my daughter went out. She wanted to go to Taco Bell. She came back with some food, cups cakes and cookies from Magnolia Bakery. 20140505-175348.jpg Continue reading

Day 6
Friday 18th April

I had a lazy day at the hotel until around 12.30. I went out to look for a pair of black shoes but I didn’t see any I liked.

Later in the evening we went to the theatre to see Audra MacDonald. We purchased our tickets a week in advance because we really wanted to see her on Broadway. It was a birthday present from my daughter.

Audra MacDonald is no stranger to Broadway. She is a five-time Tony Award-winner and is also known as a film and television actress. She has released five solo albums and maintains a career as a concert and recording artist. She is also a two-time Grammy Award winner.

Day 5
Thursday 17th April

Today we decided to see some of the sights we missed on our previous visit to New York. So this morning we were going to see the Statue of Liberty and the 9/11 Memorial.

We had brunch at Dunkin’ Donuts then took the subway from Columbus Station to South Ferry (Battery Park) to catch the ferry. It was fortunate that we had already purchased our tickets online because when we got there the ticket queue was long. We went in a shorter line for reserved tickets.
